The Hottest Hair Accessory Trends Right Now...

Discover the latest looks and what's in style for 2021 hair accessories...

We've been in business since 1976, and can't remember a time when there have been so many wonderful hair accessory trends alive at the same time.  Perhaps because people aren't venturing out as much they are choosing to update their accessories as opposed to their clothing?  Or could it be that people are looking for new ways to tame their lockdown locks and add a touch of glamour to their video calls?

Whatever the reason, the global hair accessories market is predicted to almost double in size from 2020 ($26.2m) to 2025 ($53.6m), which is a hugely exciting prospect for our business and yours over the next few years.  It is suggested that practical but fashionable hair accessories will be the drivers of the market growth, meaning that customers are looking for both style and function in equal measure.  Most of these trends were around last year, but they are still continuing to grow and evolve at pace.  Whereas in 2020 there was more of a less is more approach, the message for 2021 seems to be the bigger the better!

Here we bring to you the latest hair accessory trends as featured in all of the most reputable fashion publications…

Headbands

Padded headbands, braided headbands, and knot top headbands will take centre stage this year.  Try 7670, 8001, and 8008 to enhance your aliceband range.  It’s important to keep your collection up to date as the headband has quickly become an easy way for customers to update their style.

Scrunchies

The bigger the better.  Jumbo scrunchies are in for 2021.  Different fabrics and prints will become important as this trend grows over the course of the year.  Make sure you stock our XL scrunchie, which is available in packs of classic black (8062) and contemporary colours (8061)

Claw clips

Traditionally seen as a more functional item, this 90’s hair trend is making a comeback.  As seen on celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Hailey Bieber, this trend will only grow over the course of the year.

Sleepies

Another 90’s trend which is back with a bang is the sleepie hair clip.  Said to have gained popularity across the globe for holding back lockdown fringes, this is another example of where substance and style combine.  True fashionistas are making a statement by wearing multiple sleepies in different sizes and finishes for a really contemporary look.

Hair grips

The humble hairgrip was used all over the catwalks for this season and worn stacked together to create a bold look on the Dries Van Noten runway.  The basic hair grip means that this is an affordable look for everyone to achieve.

Pearls

A timeless classic, pearls were seen on all of the big name catwalks for this season, from headbands at Chanel, to hair chains at Acne.  We suggest our hair clips (7503), headbands (7666) and pearl scrunchie (7579) to offer something to everyone.

Bows

A nod towards more simple times, bows tied with hair ribbons or clipped into the hair on barrettes will take off in force for Spring Summer 2021.  We have an array of bow bandeaux, hair clips and headbands available to suit all styles.  Our favourite is 7793 our large bow barrette.

Wide jersey bandeaux

Watch this space as the stretch headbands usually worn for exercise will become more mainstream.  For maximum impact they should be wide.
